BOOTANI KIDS-high quality clothes, with appealing graphic designs for the little ones

BOOTANI KIDS-high quality clothes with appealing graphic designs for the little ones

I’m Rita, my biggest dream has always been to be a kindergarten teacher. For family reasons (own companies), I decided to go into marketing and advertising, so I did my degree in Lisbon. I have worked for 10 years in the textile and fashion manufacturing industry always linked to baby and children’s brands, in a fabric factory where we did the whole process, from knitting to dyeing, finishing and digital printing, developing and producing for major retailer worldwide.

Then came the pandemic, the consecutive isolations, and I, mother of two small children (2 and 4 years old) took them for walks in nature, playing with dirt, jumping in the mud puddles, feeding the animals in a pond.

All nature and children’s freedom advocate, and as the passion for the world of children never left me, I decided to use all the know-how I brought from the textile world and connect it to what I love most.

This is how www.bootanikids.com was created.

Not only a clothing brand for children from 6 months to 6 years but also a concept concerned about the future of these children. Making is as environmentally sustainable as we can. We don’t produce “just some more” clothes, but comfortable, high quality clothes, with appealing graphic designs for the little ones, the nostalgia of childhood, the most beautiful themes of those years that were the best phase of our lives. That is why the themes we have already used as inspiration are based on childhood passions.

Who doesn’t remember going to a lake as a child to give bread to the ducks?

This is how the SS22 collection “The Lake Zone” was born.

Who doesn’t remember the days spent at their grandparents’ house, the smell of just baked cake, the bread, the animals, the stories they told us?

This was the AW22 collection “The Grandparent’s House” inspiration.

Every day both in our social networks: @bootanikids, and in our garments we try to convey what is important for children, PLAY, GET DIRTY, HAVE FUN, whether it’s cold or sunny, what matters is that the clothes adapt us to environment. They are an enabler to play anytime anywhere because no joy should be restricted to sunny days.

Bootani’s clothes are designed to do just that, they are warm enough for the winter and cool enough for the summer, they are of superior quality so that they can be washed many times and especially so that they can be passed on to future generations, this is our true vision and take on environmental sustainability.

– 95% of the fibers used in our textiles are sustainable (Organic Cotton, Ecovero Viscose and Recycled Polyester). 100% of the CO used is Organic; 100% of the PES used is recycled. We fight daily to remove virgin fibers from our products.

– All of those fabrics are produced in European market leading factories with high social and environmental responsabilities.

– In the wet process (Where there is the biggest environmental impact), the most technology advanced machines were used to allow above European average water and energy savings.

– All the chemicals used comply with REACh and OEKO-TEX norms.
– Our creations are produced in gender respectfull, socially safe, fair and ethical factories.

– The entire industrial and logistic scheme is constrained to a 20Km radius, minimizing all carbon emissions with subprodution transportation from the fabric prodution to your order shipping, from our warehouse.

– Bootani’s shipping is Plastic Free, since we use our own exterior package made from recyclable paper and our envelope is 100% Recycled and Recyclable paper.

Producing with high quality materials and manufacturers, we will always try to delivers garments to be enjoyed by more generations of siblings, cousins or friends.

Challenges from 2022

Bootani was launched on a critical date, February 16th, a week before the War on Ukraine started.

I trembled, I was really scared of what was coming and this time we are living has not been the easiest… We has Covid, now we have war in Europe, costs keep on rising, everyone is afraid of what’s coming and not willing to risk, therefore, shops are suffering, whether they are online or not. Everyone is in savings and wait-and-see mode. It is a year with many challenges, but our motto is to be strong and never give up. Better years will come!

Opportunities from 2022

The timing is not as good for businesses as we were hoping for but this is also an chance for us to better develop supplier and logistics base. If we are able to produce in these hard times and to develop a good network for shipment and fulfillment, we will be even stronger when times normalize. Today’s value chain disruption and logistics nightmare have been proving to be a great hurdle to overcome, and we have been able to… I also like to think that the awareness for the need to use more responsible product as been paused due to the war and need for survival, but all the climate changes we have been feeling and also the pandemic have been highlighting the need for a change in our consumptive behavior. We like to think and position our products as a more conscious option and a communicator for this urgent need for change, also.
