FOUNDER’S STORY AND WHAT MOTIVATED HIM TO START THE BUSINESS
My name is Gracious Emmanuel, CEO Rewod Technologies, graduate of MarineEngineering, I’m a Software Developer, hails from Akwa Ibom in Nigeria.
The name of my company is Rewod Technologies limited. I founded Rewod Technologies in 2019 with my colleague Promise Adajine in the bubbling city of Port Harcourt, in Rivers State, Nigeria. I chose my partner Promise because he has beenafriend I’ve known for a couple of years and I consider him as someone whose thinkingaligns with mine. Besides, he is a very smart, industrious and trustworthy individual.
His field of discipline is Computer Science while I studied Marine Engineering. Since, we complemented each other mentally, he was the best match for me.

Over the years, we have been able to build acquaintances with various persons inmeet ups, shared ideas with top mentors and entrepreneurs from all works of life, gainexperience from the market and understand the concept behind tech start ups.
Rewod Technologies didn’t just begin from nowhere.
I first dreamt about it, the hunger to contribute to the society using my skills brought about my dream, I planned it, wrote down ideas that I can solve, some short termsome long term, we are still living the Vision, it is not yet achieved. It’s a big picture, everyday we accomplish new things. We worked towards it step by step until wegot to where we are now.
The dream of making impact has been my heart desire since my high school days. It became very clear and solid while I was in the university, so I had it all planned out tostart something remarkable after graduation. My earliest motivation and inspirationhas been Bill Gates, during my University days my push was Mark Zuckerberg, alongside Elon Musk, I read about them, their stories and failures, etc. and learn alot. I have always wanted to blaze the trail in my own sphere of life. Although there aremany other businesses similar to mine, I just wanted to stand out fromthe crowd.
Apparently and ridiculously, the name “Rewod” came actually from putting words together. We thought it out that it should be short and precise to suit tech companyname standards, however along the line it has gotten a meaning which is Reward(Rewod).

This embedded system makes your home equipped so that your lighting, heating, andelectronic devices can be controlled remotely with your smart phone. Save the stressof going to the Generator room to put on the Generator, or to switch on security lights. Many appliances in the power of your hands can be controlled with your smart phone.
MyVibe
MyVibe is an online music streaming platform, built by Rewod Technologies whereyou can stream music freely, download music fast and also get paid by uploadingyour music on myVibe.
The challenges the business/market is facing.
There are tons of challenges that comes with building a tech firm like ours. Fromresourceful human capital to efficient distribution of our products and services. We
have a system of getting traffic consistently for our products, which is our websiteandsocial media platforms. We leverage on effective advertising to get our brand noticedby the right set of traffic daily. Another challenge now is insufficient man power toensure effective and efficient delivery of our products and services. With an ever-evolving industry like ours, we need to be up-to-date with our strategies for distribution of our products.
The challenge of pricing is not left out. There’s a need to be thoughtful when pricingyour products and services because this industry is competitive and you don’t want tokeep your prices low in order to make good profit. Our training packages are sometimes regarded expensive except by those who really understand the essenceof what we’re offering. For a third-world country like Nigeria, we always need to sensitizepeople and ensure they are deeply informed about the ever-advancing modern technology and how they can become part of it.
The opportunities the business is facing
As challenges abound, opportunities in the tech industry is not also left behind. Sincewe launched Rewod Technologies, some personal and business brands who havenoticed out moves have contacted us to help them build websites and softwares toboost their business. I have received messages from businesses who have contactedus to help boost the visibility of their brand. We also take advantage of local meet upswhere several tech brands come together to discuss important matters arising intheindustry and also navigate solutions to emerging problems. Such meetings havealways been a podium for our awareness as it has helped us record increased trafficand sales.
I never leave any stone unturned when handling clients’ projects because when weover deliver, we indirectly sell our brand better to other prospective clients throughrecommendations. Overtime, we’ve had opportunities to strike deals with large organizations within our local geographical regions.
Opportunities can never be overemphasized, Technology is becoming the norm, there’s a lot of opportunities for us, we are developing smart homes as many peoplehave always adopted a system that provides ease of living, which is what our smart home is bringing (proving ease of control of home appliances). We are not stoppingthere, we’re taking advantage of the human and capital resources we also have available presently.
What the future holds for Rewod
I believe as long as we remain consistent and focus the future holds better things for us as atech start up, I see us in couple of years from now having a house hold name in Tech in
Nigeria and Africa, we are working towards it greatly. We are building solutions as a startupthat will provide value to the society, just time will tell as we remain consistent in building
My advice to other businesses
I would say hard work, focus, consistency, and networking is what you need in business to grow and gain momentum and more importantly a tech start up. So manynewbie entrepreneurs are in a hurry to see the results they are putting into the business which sometimes may not come as expected. With a touch of grit and consistency on the right thing, results will definitely align with your efforts. Remember patience is a virtue every business needs to grow because sometimes you may beworking on the right thing with the right set of tools and resources but you only needtoallow your efforts yield results especially when it has to do with people.
Every business runs on a series of solid principles which should not be neglected. Thefirst thing you should do when trying to start a business is to gather a lot of informationabout what you want to venture into. Make deep research about the competition of themarket, if possible (which is necessary), seek superior advice. It is very good to seekmentorship from experienced entrepreneurs in your industry and niche when startingout because it really helped me come this far.
Also, understand your prospective market because you’re definitely not selling toeveryone. When you understand your market, it becomes easier to laser-target them. Another important factor is goal-setting. Without goals and deadlines, the vision of anyemerging business will crumble with time, therefore, it is necessary to set goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time bound.
Be ready to learn new things and improve always. Many newbie entrepreneurs havethe notion that they have learnt enough. The secret to being the best is to keep learning. So many things are changing with time, so as a business person, you must be open to learn new things and implement the quickly. Even if you fail at the beginning, you will learn from your mistakes and get better.
Finally, don’t give up. There’s a possibility that your first business/startup may fail, even the second. What matters most is the doggedness of the businessman/woman. Keep striving to get better at whatever your doing and watch the universe open pathsthat you can hardly imagine.
